The very important Florence, Illinois bridge over the Illinois River should reopen in time for spring planting season, 2013.

The bridge closed down last June due to structural issues. This is a very important link in eastern Pike County, Illinois for farmers in the fall and spring and also for business and tourism in the area. It is a lift bridge so when cars and trucks go through the bridge, they have to wait for the bridge to go up and down for barges. Crews will work during the winter months to get the bridge back open.
