A New Local Special Needs Foundation Has Been Formed

There is a new foundation in Quincy called the FIRE Foundation of Central Illinois. According to Jill Reffett, the regional foundation spokesperson, the foundation’s mission is to provide special-needs children the opportunity for an inclusive Catholic education in their home parish. The Fire Foundation is hosting its inaugural event, “Ignite the FIRE” on October 1, 2018 at 7:30 pm to kick-off National Down Syndrome Month. “Ignite the FIRE” is a screening of the documentary Intelligent Lives.  The entire community is invited to learn more about education inclusion. Seats are available at both the Quincy Mall and Quincy Showcase 6 Theaters. Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.gathr.us and are $12.

According to Reffett, 190 free tickets have been made available to Quincy area Catholic educators through to the generosity of the Quincy Medical Group Healthcare Foundation and an anonymous Catholic advocate.” The hope is that educators, parents, and anyone who loves a special needs child will be available to be there.
