The Illinois Department of Transportation held a public hearing on improvements for the Quincy Memorial Bridge Tuesday night at the Kroc Community Center in Quincy. IDOT is planning the improvements needed for the aging bridge connecting Missouri to Illinois. Discussions centered on reconstructing the bridge to totally replacing it. By the end of the evening it became apparent that IDOT is leaning toward a total bridge replacement.
Roger Driskell, the Illinois Department of Transportation's Deputy Director of Highways, very much wants public input into the decision. If a total replacement should take place, where should the traffic flow go? Right now it goes onto Maine Street.  Some think it should link up with the Bayview Bridge and enter Illinois onto Broadway. The merchants in The District might want to have a say in this decision as it will certainly affect them.

The decision to reconstruct the current bridge or to build a new one is still a long way off. Lets say the decision is to build a new bridge, what would it be named? If it were your decision to name the new bridge what name would you decide on?
