Press release from Quincy Community Theatre

Begin your story with Quincy Community Theatre in 2016!

Audiences won’t want to miss a page of this thrilling season, featuring ten shows never-before-seen on the QCT stage. Of those stories about new beginnings, patrons will experience two spectacular hit musicals, three blockbuster plays, the creation of a brand new musical, an exciting touring production for schools, and an adventurous collection of Family/Student Theatre productions.

QCT’s story begins with one of the most legendary musicals of our time—Lerner & Loewe’s CAMELOT (March 10-13 & 18-20), sponsored by WGEM, Herald-Whig, and Quincy Mall. This romantic fable of love, chivalry, and betrayal paints the portrait of King Arthur and his captivating wife Guenevere as they existed for “one brief shining moment” until their fates take an unexpected turn with the arrival of the infamous Sir Lancelot.

After, experience the laugh-out-loud ruckus and Tony Award-winner VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE (May 12-15 & 20-22), sponsored by Quincy Medical Group. Middle-aged siblings Vanya and Sonia have never left home. When their glamourous movie-star sister Masha returns with her new boy toy Spike in tow, the entire family is shaken and stirred into one hilariously hot mess.

Next, raise your voice for the miraculous musical comedy and exclusive QCT premiere SISTER ACT (July 21-24 & 28-31), sponsored by Knapheide Manufacturing, Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, WGEM, Herald-Whig, and Blessing Health System. When disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she’s taken into protective custody in the last place anyone would think to look: a convent. Inspiring her fellow sisters to find their voices, Deloris turns them into the most glorious act in town—and blows her cover in the process!

Later, fall in love with one of the most performed plays in the country—ALMOST, MAINE (Sept. 8-11 & 16-18). In one magical night, the residents of Almost, Maine find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest of ways. Life for the folks of Almost will never be the same in this touchingly funny and whimsically endearing show.

Finally, let your spirit soar with the imaginative musical play and exclusive QCT premiere PETER AND THE STARCATCHER (Dec. 8-11 & 16-18), sponsored by Kohl Cash & Carry Showroom and First Bankers Trust Company. This grownup’s prequel to Peter Pan employs a dozen actors to play more than a hundred unforgettable characters, all on a journey to answer the century-old question: How did Peter Pan become the Boy Who Never Grew Up?

Purchasing season tickets is the best way to experience this page-turning season from beginning to end without missing a thing—and for a discounted price! Season tickets to this fantastic slate of productions are on sale to the general public October 16, 2015-March 31, 2016. Current season ticket holders may renew their seats October 1, 2015.

Family/Student Theatre productions for 2016 include the Broadway hit SHREK THE MUSICAL (TYA) (Feb. 5-7), sponsored by Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, State Street Bank, and Trinity Containers; the QCT on the Road touring production TOTALLY RED! (touring to schools and libraries beginning April 2016); the hair-raising radio play THE HALLOWEEN TRILOGY (June 9-12), sponsored by Quincy Mall, WGEM, and Herald-Whig; and the exhilarating journey through time and space A WRINKLE IN TIME (Oct. 20-23), a bonus on the season ticket. The 2016 Season also features the company project LADY WINDERMERE’S FAN (Jan. 15 & 16), a brand new musical adaptation of the Oscar Wilde play being workshopped right here in Quincy.
