Research is proving that money can buy happiness ... up to a certain dollar amount.

This research comes from WalletHub, a personal finance social network that conducted an in depth analysis of 2014's most and least happy states in America. To identify which states are home to the happiest Americans, Wallethub analyzed 50 states across the 26 metrics. They range from emotional health to income levels to sports participation rates. With regards to money, WalletHub says, "life satisfaction, one of the two main components of happiness besides emotional well-being, increases as income rises but only up to $75,000. Beyond that, money makes little difference in a person’s overall happiness."

Here are the findings from the survey. The happiest states in America are Utah, Minnesota, North Dakota, Colorado and Nebraska. The least happy states are Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Rhode Island and Tennessee.

So where did Illinois and Missouri show up? Illinois came in at 25th and Missouri ranked 38th. Of the states around our neck of the woods that showed up, Iowa was the only one to make the Top 10 of this survey, coming in at number 7.

So now what? Should we all move to Iowa?
